Jaime Zollars often paints pictures of imaginary people and places far away. “Melancholia” is a story of a place that has been destroyed and left for its young new inhabitants. It is a place where people get along and move forward despite an unfortunate past and a bleak future. It is about persevering and living on despite the situation with the hope of pulling through.

Jaime was encouraged to pursue art when she was just four years old and given her own black hardcover sketchbook. She continued to draw while growing up, and eventually went to art school to learn to paint for commercial clients. Since graduating and pursuing the illustration field, she has found a surprise love and new focus towards painting personal works that she can share in galleries and that can make their way into people's homes and lives.

Jaime is influenced by fairy tales and Flemish painters, traveling to new places, old paper, found textures, and flea markets photographs. She continues to look forward to dreaming up new worlds and painting them.
